Student Support

KYO visits and provides guidance and support to orphaned and unaccompanied children and young adults in dormitories in all seven refugee camps in Thailand. This is in addition to our dormitory support programme in which we directly fund the running costs of the dormitory, see IDP school support.

The KYO committee in each camp visits the dormitories and encourages the students in their studies, providing guidance and a friendly ear for any student who feels distressed. Sometimes they buy meat or other nutritious food for the students and sometimes they organise special games and activities.

Every three months, the KYO camp committee organises a youth exchange for the dormitory students. Special games and activities are arranged for all of the students to participate in together, building friendships and solidarity between them.
