IDP Boarding House Support

There are two major IDP sites in Karen State on the Thai-Burmese border. One at Ei Thu Hta in Mutraw district and one at Ler Per Her in Pa-an District. Ei Thu Hta site has around 4000 people and Ler Per Her has around 925 people.

KYO supports 306 children and young people in six dormitiories. These students are orphans or unaccompanied children who have moved to the dormitories to obtain an education free from attack and displacement inside conflict areas of Karen State. The numbers of students in each dormitory site are:

We need 500 baht per student per month to purchase food, candles and basic hygiene supplies. We currently get around 300 baht per student per month from Mae Tao clinic on the Thai-Burmese border so we have a shortfall of 200 baht per student per month, amounting to 734,400 THB for all students per year. More support is always needed to provide extra nutrition, bedding, warm clothes, shoes, personal hygiene and celebrate special days.
